  • Aptos upgrades

    details

    The Aptos module, from B Plan, is part of the key functionality of Capita’s UNIT-e Financial Management solution. This application provides a truly integrated and real-time environment. It is highly scalable, robust and flexible enough to provide true business benefit to many departments within a complex education organisation.

    Capita will perform upgrades and patches to the Aptos system, this will include Aptos database and Uniface software.

  • Live to Test/Train copy

    details

    Most customers like to have their Test and Train databases populated with the same data as their Live to provide a consistent approach for Developers and Trainers.

     

    Immediately after performing the UNIT-e Core Upgrade to your Live environment, and if previously requested, the Capita engineer will export a copy of the upgraded database and import it to your Test and/or Train database. Also,  Capita can carry out additional copies at other times upon request and if previously ordered.

  • UNIT-e EDM upgrades

    details

    UNIT-e Tools for EDM  is built on Microsoft SharePoint technologies that enables you to reduced your storage requirements. Documents are scanned and stored into SharePoint where hotlinks created in UNIT-e gives instant access. This allows you to dispose of the original paper documents and in turn remove bulky filing cabinets that take up valuable office space.

     

    Capita’s further and higher education will apply upgrades to UNIT-e Electronic Document Management software at the time of the UNIT-e Core upgrade.

  • UNIT-e Tools for Reporting Services (TORS) upgrades

    details

    Microsoft® Reporting Services provides the tools and structure needed to deliver high volumes of interactive and customisable reports through a web browser. UNIT-e Tools for Reporting Services takes this accessibility a stage further by providing tools that enable you to use the information in your UNIT-e database without the need to recreate relationships, pick-list definitions or masks and filters. TORS provides secure views.
     
    Capita’s further and higher education will apply upgrades to TORS at the time of UNIT-e Core upgrade.

  • Online services upgrades

    details

    The Online Services suite has grown over the years and now includes; Enquires, Applications, Enrolments, HR, VQMT.  These pages sit on both an internal and external webservers, however the webservice(s) will always remain on the internal server. Capita recommend having a vanilla website which will not have any customisations, plus LIVE and Development sites which may be customised.
     
    Capita will perform upgrades and patches to the Vanilla site, once proved to be working, these can then be copied to the other sites and customisations reapplied.

  • Smart Client and LaunchPad upgrades

    details

    We now only support the one Smart client application and that is : Attendance Grid.  UNIT-e Attendance Grid can generate registers based on your curriculum, resources or even as an ad hoc event. Users can update attendance online via intuitive and functionality rich interface.

     

    UNIT-e Launch Pad is a ‘front-end’ application which gives you access to all of the UNIT-e web-based products that you’re licensed to use. It also offers additional functionality which enables you to communicate with all users of the application.

     

    Capita will perform upgrades and patches to the Smart Client and LaunchPad products where appropriately licensed.

  • Columbus upgrades

    details

    Columbus is an ’out of the box’ information intranet tool that helps organisations make management information available to all staff.  This product needs to communicate with the database server via a webservice, so upgrades can affect the configurations.
      
    Capita will perform upgrades and patches to Columbus (IB.NET) including web services.

  • Technical support

    details

    Access is provided to the Capita’s technical team to provide remote technical support for the Managed Software and Managed Hardware environments. This will involve work to diagnose and resolve issues that affect the correct operation of Capita’s further and higher education solutions as reported by the Customer.
     
    Capita’s application software support is not affected by this agreement and will continue to be provided through Capita’s further and higher education support desk.

  • UNIT-e core upgrade

    details

    The UNIT-e core product suite currently comprises; UNIT-e database, application executables and windows services (where licenced). The UNIT-e database is the major part of the upgrade and needs to be done carefully but efficiently to ensure minimum downtime.
     
    Capita would perform upgrades and patches for these Core products.

  • Database management system upgrades

    details

    The UNIT-e product relies on Oracle or SQLServer as its relational database management system (RDBMS) to store the data.  Keeping these platforms at the latest version is a specialised task which Capita can provide.  We will advise you of essential patches or upgrades to the RDBMS required by UNIT-e, and arrange installation times that are convenient with you and your own IT services teams’.

  • Operating system upgrades

    details

    To ensure that your UNIT-e system is performing at its best, Capita can perform Microsoft server operating system upgrades and patches to the UNIT-e servers indicated to the highest supported version.  We will advise you of essential patches or upgrades required by UNIT-e, and arrange installation times that are convenient with you and your own IT services teams’.

  • System checks

    details

    Routine database and operating system checks will be carried out at the frequency indicated in the Table to ensure the correct operation of the system. 

    The frequency will be; Daily, Weekly or Monthly.

    There is no difference in the quality of the check being carried out, each check will consist of:

    • Check system logs for errors

    • Identify any outstanding upgrades or patches required to keep the system within supported operating system, database and Capita’s further and higher education software versions

    • Monitor database status to ensure appropriate operation

    • Check recent backup activity to ensure successful operation

    • Identify any current or impending resource constraints

    • Report - The customer will be notified of the outcome of each check and any outstanding activities required.
