Scotland: FE-merging stronger

In 2015, a massive shake-up of Scottish post-16 education was announced. The merging of the country’s 37 colleges into independent entities, governed along regional lines, was designed to offer a more comprehensive further education provision to Scotland’s students.

As well as creating new management and staffing structures, making best use of new campuses, and working out what curriculum to offer, the 13 regional colleges had to ensure their systems would run as a seamless entity and, more importantly, report as one.

This white paper looks at how a single integrated management information system (MIS) can support merged colleges to realise efficiencies, improve the student experience, and help to report against the key performance indicators (KPIs) that the regional boards and government demand.
