Progress Reviews

FHE Learner Risk Manager
UNIT-e Learner Risk Manager's functionality within Capita FHE’s VQMT solution is used to record risks relating to a learner or course.

A training organisation can manage, monitor and report the progress of a learner if they have expressed a desire to leave education or training. It is possible to record user definable risk type, status, reason, valid to date and a description of the risk. Fully integrated with UNIT-e Student Record and Tracking System, and combined with the power of UNIT-e reporting facilities, the information stored can be used to produce detailed reports and communications using the Internet, email, SMS and mail merge.

Increased scope for communications and reporting results in reduced drop out rates and improved retention. If a learner does eventually leave, effective processes are in place with VQMT to ensure statutory communications are sent to the relevant bodies.

Target Tracking
The UNIT-e Target Tracking application helps organisations predict, measure and monitor student performance against national benchmark data. Organisations can enter own data or use information compiled by The Advanced Level Information System (ALIS) or A-Level Performance System (ALPS). Through regular student performance reviews, predications can be revised and targets achieved throughout a learning programme.

Functionality within UNIT-e Target Tracking allows previous student qualifications to be recorded to calculate an average point score upon entry and record course and subject information for comparison and benchmarking with national data. Using data from these functions, accurate grade predictions can be calculated to monitor and motivate staff in delivery and students with achievement.

Once implemented, UNIT-e Target Tracking results in improved accuracy, identification and analysis of student performance.  Organisations can better monitor courses, departments and students to more accurately predict outcomes and compare this with national targets thus pinpointing areas needed for improvement.

Individual Learning Plans (ILP)
This UNIT-e integrated functionality provides a web-based solution for the collation and management of student Individual Learning Plans (ILP). The ILP solution gathers various information about students into a single presentation detailing personal information, education, employment and course history, aim, reviews and outcomes.

With data collection complete, the ILP application enables a tutor to create academic and personal ‘aims’ for the student. These can be recorded and monitored within the ILP functionality. Tutors can also regularly manage and update the process, set review dates and record the outcomes of these reviews.

Additional Support
Recording details through an online interface, the UNIT-e Additional Support application enables organisations to account for time spent by members of staff providing additional learning support to individual students. Additional support information is held at student enrolment level and includes details of members of staff providing the support, the type of support given and the cost of provision. Fully integrated with the UNIT-e solution from Capita FHE, reports are also provided, enabling organisations to analyse additional support data.

This function provides organisations and staff with a simple and easy way of capturing data by recording it at the point of delivery.  This allows for funding to be maximised by ensuring all additional support is accurately evidenced and can therefore be claimed for.

Professional Placements

The Professional Placements application is new from Capita FHE and has been developed to assist organisations with the growing requirement for courses to have a work placement. UNIT-e Professional Placements allows staff to monitor and manage students and learners in the workplace, recording data and achievements throughout the work placement.

Fully integrated with the UNIT-e solution, with Professional Placements all data is recorded in a secure, central location detailing all vital details of students and their respective work placements. Work placements can be allocated individually or via a batch process, during which placement tasks can be defined.

UNIT-e Professional Placements enables users to record organisation details including the staff involved in placement activity, be they from the institution or the workplace. Meetings can be scheduled, deadlines inputted and outcomes recorded. Letter generation routines ensure all involved receive the information they need during the placement process.
