The user is not limited to running simple queries – even complex queries from multiple data tables can easily be performed - making sure the right information is available at the right time to the right person using the right technology. At the heart of Aptos EAS II is the concept of authorship and publishing. Queries are generated by authors and then published to the user community for use via a Microsoft Excel add-in.
This design, combined with Aptos security, also enables a single query to be used on different data by different users. It also provides drill down from balances to underlying transactions (Hot Queries) as well as drill back facilities directly back into Aptos from Microsoft Excel if required.
Benefits
- Aptos EAS II has access to the full Aptos database compared to the limited subset in Aptos EAS I which will provide more full and complete enterprise reporting.
- Aptos EAS II will provide enhanced Microsoft Excel outputs such as the inclusion of sorting, grouping and subtotals to allow a rich graphical look and feel.
- Aptos EAS II gives greater control over formatting options such as fonts, colours and backgrounds for example. In addition the useful Microsoft Excel function ‘freeze panes’ can be set automatically.
- Aptos EAS II allows user generated SQL to be input in addition to using the graphical report designer which will preserve and enhance organsiation skill sets as well as supply an unlimited opportunity to tweak outputs.
- Aptos EAS II is supplied with an Import / Export facility for moving reports between databases that will enable reports to be generated, verified and tested in the TEST system and then imported into LIVE.
- Aptos Data Extract Services, used for designing EAS II reports, resides in Microsoft Excel, meaning reports can be written and previewed in a single application. There is no longer a need to spend extra time and frustration switching windows between Aptos and Microsoft Excel.
- Aptos Data Extract Services futureproofs reports as it can also publish reports to Aptos Management Information Desktop and Aptos Client Side Reporting.
- Aptos EAS II coexists with Aptos EAS I with all existing reports continuing to function. New reports can then be developed in Aptos EAS II and reconciled to their Aptos EAS I counterpart which means time is saved, confidence gained and accuracy assured in validating the output of the new reports.

Implementation
Aptos EAS II is free of charge to existing EAS users and is available in Aptos 9 release 21. The installation is designed to be customer installable however Capita FHE Support Desk will also offer advice and guidance on the installation and verification of Aptos EAS II as part of the standard support and maintenance agreement.
In the event that assistance is required with installation over and above the standard level of advice and guidance that the Capita FHE Support Desk offer then Capita FHE will offer Technical Consultancy on a time and materials basis.
Applications Consultancy is recommended with Aptos EAS II to make sure that your organsiation is fully briefed and skilled to benefit from new features and benefits of Aptos EAS II. The Applications Consultancy will be delivered on a time and materials basis.
