Columbus
Columbus is an ’out of the box’ information intranet tool that helps organisations make management information available to all staff. It provides pre-packaged set of standard web pages that provide the basis for an organisation’s MIS intranet. Featuring student, course, enrolment details and timetable information, amongst many other options, staff are notified of any amendments. These web-based reporting facilities supplies staff and managers with the information they need, when and where they need it.
Columbus operates hand-in-hand with UNIT-e Internet Builder, a powerful generic web-reporting tool that renders data extracted by UNIT-e Report Generator into web pages. The information held in these pages can then be made available via intranets and the Internet. Additional reports written by an organisation can be added to the user reports area.
This application benefits all staff at an organisation, providing real-time information detailing student, curriculum and resource data. Rapid and accurate communication takes place due to all staff able to easily accessing correct data reported from the same source.
Internet Builder
Built upon the powerful UNIT-e architecture, this application provides organisations with the ability to produce dynamic, database-driven web pages for internal and external presentation. Internet Builder users can easily write their own web pages by designing simple reports. Users can construct search forms and data presentations without the need for detailed programming knowledge. Using an inbuilt secure login feature, content is sensitive, but can be made public when created as an anonymous user page.
Using the Internet function within UNIT-e Internet Builder, users can develop database-driven web pages for public view within specified login restrictions. Alternatively, the intranet functionality allows users to enforce limits to the availability of data when building pages. All of this availability comes complete with the security features of Capita FHE’s UNIT-e system as standard.
Report Generator
Report Generator offers organisations a unique and flexible approach to reporting. Within a tightly controlled, user-defined environment, vast amounts of critical data can be accessed, managed, interrogated and manipulated for reporting purposes. Organisations can control the import of data into the UNIT-e database and share detailed reports with staff in a secure manner.
An intelligent application that understands the structure of the UNIT-e database, this application uses a simple and intuitive graphical interface for users to create and run complex reports. The global update facility enables a large number of records to be maintained or manipulated quickly in a single process.
UNIT-e Dictionary Importer
UNIT-e Dictionary Importer is an additional module that complements UNIT-e Report Generator. It provides users with a tool to import database tables supplied by third parties or developed by individual user. This function exposes the strength and security of the UNIT-e solution to all data from non-UNIT-e applications.
Further benefits from implementing this functionality allow organisations to create dictionaries of other systems, such as virtual learning environments, accounts and libraries. Also, user created table and views can be added to the existing MIS UNIT-e dictionary.
